A mere 12 days after Halloween might be considered early to get in the holiday mood, but if Tiffany & Co. says it’s time, you don’t question it: you fete it. On Wednesday, guests decamped to the eighth floor of the Landmark on Fifth Avenue to soak up the sparkle.
Anya Taylor-Joy was feeling festive. The actress had fittingly teamed her winter white look with the eye-catching 18 carat yellow gold, pink sapphire, and diamond Bird on a Rock brooch by Jean Schlumberger. It was a nod to the avian installation atop the tree lit up on the terrace behind her, shining out onto 57th Street.
Screen stars and entertainers, including Sam Nivola, Anna Weyant, and Chase Sui Wonders, could be seen enjoying the full service martini bar, clinking flutes of Champagne, and nibbling on peking duck tacos, cones filled with salmon tartare, and, much to everyone’s delight, gourmet chicken nuggets. Models and friends of the house Kate Love, Imaan Hammam, Georgia Fowler, and Kelsey Merritt were among those whose diamonds and gold hardware were extra twinkly when they caught the light of the snowflake projections bouncing around the room.
Naturally, life-size versions of the world-famous blue boxes were dotted everywhere too. “This holiday celebration is always one of our most cherished moments of the year, celebrating love, joy, connectivity, and this city,” Mattieu Garnier, president and CEO of Tiffany & Co. North America said during a toast. Making Taylor-Joy’s choice of accessory make even more sense, he added: “Tonight, we also celebrate one of our icons: the Bird on a Rock. Designed in 1965, 60 years ago, it has been a growing part of our story and the legacy of Tiffany & Co.”
The soirée also saw a moving performance by pianist Audrey McGraw, while Isabella Massenet manned the DJ decks for the rest of the evening. As Garnier said: “Love is a gift.” Attendees left energized and immersed in the holiday spirit, ready to spread it far and wide.
