The third single from Charli XCX’s forthcoming Music, Fashion, Film dropped with a titillating video directed by frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri. While Brat summer was all Aperol Spritzes, cigarettes, and dawn-busting raves, this visual signals a season that revels in strawberries and cream, self-pleasuring to smut, and rolling in the hay.
“Here’s the truth and I gotta be honest, I’m not a bad girl anymore, I promise,” she sings, carrying out a series of household chores that slide into the sensual and increasingly provocative. (Before giving in to read something horny on her Kindle and get off.) Fashion, by Charli’s longtime stylist Chris Horan, followed a similarly horny, pastoral, tongue-in-cheek sartorial rhythm. And while there’s a lyrical nod to French label A.P.C (a go-to brand for a particular kind of east London girl), no fashions seem to be present: “My friend Rostam told me I dressed like a slut, so now I shop at A.P.C.”
To stomp around a muddy patch, Charli wears a custom turquoise leather racer-style fit from Chrome Hearts. As close-up shots show, the jacket features a sterling silver crossball snap closure, zippered cuffs, and tonal signature cross patches. The pants are boot-cut with the Chrome Hearts flerknee leg design. She wore a black version of the custom set for her “Rock Music” music video.
