When in France, dress as the French girls do, right? But Bella Hadid opted not for a haphazard red lip or pared-back basics. Instead, she paid homage to Jane Birkin—albeit with a distinctly 2026 touch.
Just days after she walked the fall 2026 Prada runway (four times!) in Milan, Hadid is already onto the next. The model touched down in the City of Light today, marking the kickoff to Paris Fashion Week. While she embraced Sciura style in Italy, Hadid pivoted to a quirky take on Birkin’s signatures while on the late model’s home turf.
Out to lunch at L’Avenue in Paris, Hadid wore a simple base layer—a white mock-neck and medium-wash blue jeans that hit just above her ankle, displaying slim black Freda Salvador loafers and ecru socks. While her outfit’s foundation fell well within the French Girl Style brief, Hadid’s eclectic styling would make Birkin proud: she layered a light brown field jacket with a dramatic white shearling collar by Susanna Chow (a brand you’ll actually often find Selena Gomez in) over an off-white knitted Isabel Marant tunic. And lest we forget her signature bangs, which Hadid wore in wisps over her forehead.
As Birkin was fond of an oversized bag—particularly her namesake Birkin—Hadid opted for a large brown Chanel In the Mix tote. (Though Birkin’s bag was known to overflow, Hadid kept all of her belongings inside her bag.) She finished off the look with a pair of Tom Ford Jada sunglasses. While Birkin herself may not have gone for the bold, infinity-shaped frames, Bella Hadid is taking creative liberties with her fashion inspiration. Surely Jane Birkin would approve of her broad-strokes approach to personal style.
