The team’s opening ceremony uniforms feature a white wool coat with wooden toggles, an American flag intarsia wool turtleneck sweater, and tailored wool trousers. The closing ceremony look features a color-blocked puffer jacket, a wool turtleneck sweater, and a white utility pant. Accessories include red, white, and blue intarsia knit mittens, as well as a leather belt and brown suede alpine boots with red laces. All of the pieces are made in the U.S.
“Ralph Lauren has had the immense privilege of outfitting Team USA for nearly 20 years, and the significance and sheer magnitude of dressing our nation’s incredible athletes—on the most dramatic stage in sport as they pursue their lifelong dreams–is an honor that never fades,” David Lauren, Ralph Lauren’s chief branding and innovation officer, says in a release. “Our design philosophy has always been about creating dreams and telling stories through style, and these uniforms, both timeless and modern, reflect the passion, optimism, and relentless pursuit of excellence that embody the American spirit.”
Lauren tapped several leading Team USA athletes to model the uniforms, including ice dancers Evan Bates and Madison Chock, speed skater Erin Jackson, and snowboarders Brenna Huckaby and Red Gerard. For all of them, these last few weeks before the Games are critical.
“I’ve been doing a lot of training, spending a lot of time over in Europe pretty close to where we’ll be competing in Milan,” says Gerard. “Trying to get better snowboarding, but in a safe way without getting hurt before the Olympics!”
“I’m feeling pretty confident going into these Games,” says Huckaby, a two-time Paralympian. “I know I have to be 110% to have a shot at being on the podium—but I think I can do it.”
