While summer technically started a few weeks ago, the Hamptons season tends to follow suit by kicking off on July 1. And what better way to celebrate the beginning of an East End summer than a soirée with Mytheresa and The Hedges Inn? On Wednesday evening, the luxury fashion e-tailer brought the fashion set to the recently reopened hotel to raise a glass to the holiday weekend and debut its mobile pop-up shop.
The custom Airstream, wrapped in yellow stripes, sat in the driveway awaiting guests as they pulled in. Upon arrival, they were invited to take a peek inside: raffia Alaïa wedges, the Watering Can bucket bag from Loewe, Christopher Esber jelly sandals, and more designer pieces sat neatly atop the sleek wood shelves for viewing.
A chic cocktail hour unfolded in the courtyard. Surrounded by hydrangeas in full bloom, a crowd sipped limoncello spritzes and Champagne as they caught up with one another and recalled tales of their travels—some coming from Cannes Lions, others fresh off the Parisian heatwave. While they chatted, servers passed around caviar-topped chicken nuggets, spring rolls, and tuna tostadas.
Model Kate Love was one of those happily soaking up the sun, having just relocated from Miami to the Hamptons for the summer with her two babies in tow. “We have been going to the cutest little stable with riding horses and then get our vegetables at Amber Waves,” she told Vogue, explaining the appeal of the slower paced lifestyle. “We go on the swings and feed the goats, which is so cute, and we do a lot of beach walks with the dogs and go to friends’ houses for dinner.”
As the sun began to set, guests were invited to find their seats at one of two long tables. Atop each sat sculptural yellow floral arrangements—oversized sunflowers and forsythia stems peeking out from every direction—alongside woven chargers and Murano glassware. Shortly after everyone was seated, Sarah Wetenhall, owner of The Hedges Inn and the Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, addressed the crowd. “This is a big night for us, for many reasons,” she said. “This is our first event post-restoration. I hope you get a chance to pop in and look around because it’s very, very different this season. And secondly, we’re here to welcome and celebrate Mytheresa. We’ve had a long relationship with the brand, dating back to one of our first fashion events at our hotel in Florida, the Colony Hotel, so it’s a special, full-circle moment.”
