When you’re a card-carrying member of the bob community like me, things get a little tricky in summer. It’s both hot and breezy; my hair isn’t long enough to sweep into a ponytail and the shape just doesn’t sit right under a cap. Zendaya, with her own bixie, knows the solution.
The actor was photographed at Rakestraw Books, a small independent bookstore in California, posing with Dune: Messiah and The Odyssey paperbacks. (Zendaya stars in both forthcoming movie adaptations, the latter opposite her husband Tom Holland.)
Her bixie cut was tied back with a navy and white-dotted bandana folded diagonally and wrapped around her crown. The rest of her look was plain and simple: a white t-shirt and jeans. She also sported a micro French manicure, with the thinnest white tips.

Last summer, the hair kerchief became a signature style for girls on the go: from Hailey Bieber to Alexa Chung on their beachy holidays, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Gracie Abrams on the stage at Glastonbury. It’s really the perfect hair accessory for the warmer months: “What I love about a bandana is that it elevates a look without much effort. It also can be a way to give your hair a break from heat styling: Just spritz in a little salt spray and go,” as celebrity hairstylist Bobby Elliot previously told Vogue. It fits right in with Zendaya’s easy, relaxed day-to-day style, too.
