The House of Dagmar hasn’t done a fashion show for some years, so when Karin Söderlind, one of the three Dagmar sisters behind the brand, brought the resort collection to New York, she took the opportunity to present some pieces from fall as well. Like many autumn offerings, this one was predominantly rendered in somber black; Joan Miró’s strangely alluring paintings inspired the few pops of color.
What stood out in this rather no-nonsense collection was a boxy gray suit and a double-breasted wool coat that had a cozy cocooning volume. That despite a concentration on leather, which Sofia Wallenstam, the sister in charge of creative direction, cut into suits, outerwear, and, most effectively, a long ivory shift dress that was paired with a light shearling coat in a complementary shade.
