Are there too many reboots and sequels coming out of Hollywood these days? Indubitably. (My kingdom for some original IP!) But you’ll never catch me complaining about a brand-new installment of my favorite 1998 witchy-sister romp, Practical Magic—especially since Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Stockard Channing, and Dianne Wiest are all reprising their roles as the Owens girls.
We’ve now officially been blessed with a first trailer for the film, which is due out this September. Watch it for yourself, then find (quite literally) every thought I had about our first look at Practical Magic 2 below:
- “I’m sure you’ve heard of the Owens family.” Of course I have! I’m a bisexual millennial!
- I get that it’s part of the film’s conceit for Nicole and Sandra to look exactly as dewy and youthful and ageless as they did in the original, but…how did they do that?
- Skincare, I guess.

- Also looking fine as hell!
- Does anyone else automatically think about how dirty the Grease stylist did Channing whenever they see her onscreen?
- Just me?
- I mean…she was supposed to be a hot bad girl! Why did they give her that off-brand pixie cut?
- Okay, locking back in to this film.
- The concept of Gillian Owens on Tinder is breaking my brain.
- Don’t go in there, girl! It’s a trap!
- Are Joey King and Maisie Williams supposed to be their daughters?
- Or their nieces or neighbors or something?
- How very Freakier Friday.
- Oh, to have either of these women’s softly arranged tresses (instead of the extremely dirty bangs hiding under a silk scarf that I’m currently rocking atop my own head).

- Okay, that shot of the doll burning scared me.
- There’s a reason I have to Wikipedia the plot of every real horror movie before I go see it!
- And even when I know the plot, I still often cry at jump scares!
- The girls’ blush is really blushing.
- “Different, or same?” LOL.
- I am so ready to put the lime in the coconut.
- In fact, a midnight margarita sounds really good right now, despite it being 10:30 a.m. PST.
