The Jenner sisters have long stayed in their own sartorial lanes. Kendall Jenner, as the ultra-minimalist collector of The Row, lover of a loafer, and a straight-leg denim jean. Kylie Jenner, more often than not in a body-contouring silhouette, leather-on-leather, and a nasty little pump. Stepping out for a night at the Hollywood set’s favorite Sushi Park with Kylie’s partner Timothée Chalamet, the sisters had something of a spring it-shoe-off.
Kylie emerged first, with Chalamet not far behind. (The couple have been keeping a low-profile since the Oscars, and recently enjoyed a vacation together in Turks and Caicos.) The Kylie Cosmetics mogul opted for an oft-visited outfit formula: a cropped black tank top, with low-rise tailored suit pants, and a croc-effect Gucci shoulder bag. On her feet, a pair of black thong heels.

Her sister came next, hitting all the usual Kendall Jenner hallmarks: the model wore a navy New York Yankees baseball cap, paired with a tailored black leather blazer, butter yellow t-shirt, and indigo straight-leg jeans. A red scarf (Kendall loves a pop of tomato) was knotted around her shoulder bag from The Row. On her own feet, a pair of black, glove-like ballet flats with a high vamp and v-neck finish.
Thong heeled sandals are set to once again be spring’s stand-out style. Super minimalist and ’90s-coded, the elevated flip flop works with tailored pieces a la Kylie or with season-ready capris, skirts, and dresses. Kendall and Hailey Bieber have also proved themselves fans of the flip-flop heel, while they also appeared on the runways of Khaite, Alaïa, and Gucci.
Sleek, second-skin shoes like Kendall’s are also officially having a major moment, again. Chanel’s glove pumps appeared in Matthieu Blazy’s debut, while brands like Wales Bonner and Toteme have also shown supple leather ballet flats with that high vamp. Zoë Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence, and Katie Holmes are all refined ballet flat devotees, too.
