It was a full-circle moment for the tippet at the fall 2026 shows, with rounds of material wrapping and warming models’ arms and chests. At Fforme, Frances Howie riffed on the precious ’50s evening stole by roughing things up; raw edged shearling was “cut and redirected . . . so that the pile pushed in different directions.” While fur both real and faux was a preferred material, knit and bespangled options were seen on many runways.
Shrug-like capelets served much the same purpose as stoles by swaddling the body in comfort, or alternatively, providing a sense of protection. Ellen Hodakova Larsson and Galib Gassanoff emphasized a homey kind of comfiness by transforming rugs into shoulder holders, while some knit versions looked like tea cozies, turned sideways to accommodate head and chest rather than handle and spout.
