While Emerald Fennel’s Wuthering Heights proved itself a lightning rod for controversy from the jump, Margot Robbie has the stamp of approval from Emily Brontë herself—or, as close as one can get, anyway.
For the London premiere, Robbie wore a replica of a bracelet once made of the writer’s own hair. A piece of Victorian mourning jewelry, the original piece was owned by Brontë’s sister, Charlotte, and made from Emily and Anne Brontë’s hair. Haworth-based Wyedean Weaving fashioned a replica of the 175-year-old bracelet.
Victorian mourning jewelry, which often included intricate hair braiding, comes through in Robbie’s custom Dilara Findikoglu look: a nude corseted gown trimmed in ornate braids, hand dyed to match the Brontë bracelet.
Complementing the Brontë-inspired bracelet, jeweler Jessica McCormack, whose signature button-back settings have found fans amongst Zendaya, Zoë Kravitz, and Dakota Johnson, fashioned a bespoke ring and earrings for Robbie’s premiere look. Inspired by Brontë’s bracelet, McCormack—whose work is influenced by the Victorian and Georgian eras—created a pair of drop earrings made of garnets, diamonds, and pearls. On her finger, Robbie also wore a custom four-carat ruby ring, set east-west in McCormack’s signature blackened gold.
