The stories that resonated with Vogue Runway’s readers this year include reporting on Melania Trump’s inauguration fashion, explainers about not one, but two Costume Institute exhibitions, and a history of Christian Dior’s New Look well timed to Jonathan Anderson’s arrival at the historic French house and lavishly illustrated by Vogue’s senior archive editor Laird Borrelli-Persson.
Entrances always made news, be they Old Navy’s first designer collaboration with Anna Sui or Apple’s hookup with Issey Miyake. Exits too. Giorgio Armani’s passing at 91, just weeks shy of a celebration of his company’s 50th anniversary, produced many moving remembrances, not least of all the one written by our own Luke Leitch.
Adam Selman’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show launch outing also made the list, but why no other debuts in a year defined so by them? Because we track runway shows separately from articles. Back in February/March at the fall 2025 collections, it was Miu Miu and its retro bullet bras that captured our readers’ attention (you love bras of all kinds, apparently), while in September/October, for spring 2026, it was Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel sensation that had everyone talking.
You also came to Vogue Runway for fashion advice. Laia “non-shoe shoe” Garcia-Furtado, our senior fashion news editor, had a lot to say all year long about “the art of getting dressed.” What connected most were her tips about flip-flops. Yes! flip-flops. Like all of her pieces, it was light on didacticism and high on style: “Can you wear flip-flops in the city?” she wrote. “At your own peril! Can you wear flip-flops to the office? Depends on your office! Have feet gotten a bad wrap in our current world? Absolutely. Show them some love, they literally carry you around every day.” Happy new year, see you in 2026!
