Her co-stars followed a similar sartorial rhythm: Anne Hathaway opted for a billowing Blumarine mini halter dress with arpeggiating layers of ruffles. Samantha Morton wore a smoke-gray, silky draped Alexander McQueen gown, and Lupita Nyong’o wore a white scarf skirted Chanel dress with black piping and embroidered chest icon. Zendaya’s husband, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson kept it more lowkey: in Prada and Visvim respectively, and both in denim jeans.
Zendaya is seeing out two overlapping press tours, having spent the last few weeks promoting Spider-Man: Brand New Day in a series of looks that brought a refreshed take to method dressing. She wore some cobwebbed vintage Galliano, a shimmering Versace co-ord in the Spider-Man suit colors, and eBay-bought merch as a t-shirt dress.
This time, Zendaya and Law are tentatively exploring the classic tunic and the white, cream, and ivory color palette for The Odyssey, in which she stars as the goddess Athena. Just a day previous, she opted for a vintage Trussardi dress from spring 2006: a rippling cream dress with wind-whirling layers and delicate-as-anything straps that fell off her shoulders, as sensual as any Greek sculpture rendering.
With The Odyssey set to hit theaters on July 17, there’s still plenty of Ancient Greece aesthetics to power through.
