Katie Holmes’s collection of covetable it-bags is vast and free-flowing. In just the last few months, she’s been spotted toting the new and improved Max Mara Whitney Bag 7 in a chocolate brown shade and Marni’s Tulipea bag. Delving deeper, there’s a classic quilted Chanel 19 Flap Bag, the sleek Perriand top-handle city bag by Métier London, the trapezoid Akris Ai shoulder bag, an iconic Celine Triomphe, and several shapes and sizes from her go-tos Manu Atelier (Le Cambon is a fave) and Khaite.
Photographed out and about yesterday (November 5) in New York City, the queen of downtown cool street style has re-confirmed her anointed carry-all for fall 2025. The actor and filmmaker wore the much-coveted Private Eye bag from Métier in buttery nappa leather and a shade of pomodoro red with brass hardware, a bag she was first spotted with back in September.
Holmes paired her beloved—and a little beaten—accessory with a more simple outfit: a distressed blue denim jacket, loose button down shirt, black cropped cotton pants with a tie waist, and black glove ballet flats. All very textbook, off-duty Katie Holmes, styled with her hair up in a messy top knot with angular framed sunglasses.

As much as a statement-making bag is part of Holmes’s style anatomy, so too is a good shoe and relaxed bottom half: ballet flats via Chanel and Mansur Gavriel, or a trending-again Nike Cortez peeking out from under some straight-leg Veronica Beard Jeans or cotton pull-on pants. She’s also been wearing shirts from fashion editor favorite Anteros, with their elongated sleeves and in tones of sage green and butter yellow. (Proving the more summery colors are here to stay.) The pop of red trick—as demonstrated in yesterday’s look—is another Holmes spearheaded style hack for adding some outfit interest; as the days get colder in NYC, that can make a more sensible, outfit-ensconcing look stand strong.
