Twelve years after founding Fear of God, Jerry Lorenzo is no stranger to accolades. On Monday night, however, he added one more to the list: the 2025 CFDA Innovation Award.
“I just take it all as encouragement that I’m on the right path and doing what I’ve been called to do,” Lorenzo tells Nicole Phelps on this Tuesday’s episode of The Run-Through with Vogue.
When Lorenzo started FoG, he wanted to create luxury streetwear that spoke to his unique perspective and experience. He eventually met Virgil Abloh, who was just launching Pyrex Vision—the label now known as Off-White—and had a similar sensibility.
Ever since, Lorenzo, a self-taught designer, has continued to refine his fabrics, materials, and overall creative process. All the while, his business has grown: he recently hired Bastien Daguzan, the former CEO of Jacquemus; he’s expanded into womenswear; and next year, he will open Fear of God’s first-ever retail locations in New York and Los Angeles.
But beyond these major milestones, Lorenzo tells Phelps that more than anything, he’s aiming for peace and longevity. “I just want the brand to be around 50 to 100 years from now.” At this rate, that seems very possible.
