David and Victoria Beckham are making the most of their trip to New York.
While the pair is in town to celebrate Victoria’s Gap collaboration later this week, they squeezed in a date night at one of the designer’s favorite restaurants, COQODAQ, the Korean-American hotspot best known for its elevated fried chicken—namely their extravagant caviar-topped chicken nuggets. And that’s exactly how the Beckhams approached their date night style: a slightly elevated version of their usual fare.

Victoria adapted her love of an all-black look, pairing a black top with a three-quarter-length sleeve with a black body-hugging midi skirt, whose beaded embellishments certainly read more evening than daytime. The designer stuck to the monochrome brief with her accessories: a pair of towering black patent leather mules, outsized Rick Owens sunglasses, and a black croc Hermès Mini Kelly—left unclasped, of course.
David, for his part, chose a brown Prada chore coat, worn over a white T-shirt, with navy trousers, crisp white slip-on shoes, and sepia-tinted sunglasses. While the outfit would work just as well during the day, popping the collar of his jacket gave the look a distinctly off-duty feel.
For your next date, whether it’s with a long-term partner or someone new, take heed from David and Victoria Beckham: the perfect date outfit should make you feel like yourself—maybe just a little bit better.
