This week’s red carpets were all about shock factor. From peacock-feathered and navel-bearing tops (Doechii!) to burnt-orange two-piece sets (Carey Mulligan!), the best dressed stars of the week embraced unexpected finishes—it proved a refreshing switch-up to the usual array of glitzy gowns. Because why play it safe, when you can take a risk and have it pay off in spades?
Take Anne Hathaway, who channeled a ghostly and ethereal vibe in her gauzy white Lever Couture gown at the Mother Mary premiere in New York City. A dress just as good as the film’s costumes. Another star who got into some classic method dressing? Her Devil Wears Prada 2 compatriot Meryl Streep, who emerged in a red patent Dolce & Gabbana trench—very Miranda Priestley.
Of course, if we’re talking New York moments, the award for most thematic has to go to Alex Consani: the model debuted a new billboard in Times Square wearing Chanel’s sequinned “I Love New York” tee and printed skirt. Tourist-chic!
Other more avant-garde fashions included the Schiaparelli look that Zendaya wore to CinemaCon in Las Vegas: Slightly skin-like, the body-conscious design was reminiscent of the Dune worm—a couture worm, of course. At the Daily Front Row Fashion Awards in Los Angeles, Doechii also slipped into Dilara Findikoglu’s ostrich feathered top and a sheer beaded skirt. A look as fabulous and flamboyant as peacocks themselves.
