Mother knows how to throw a party. Deep downtown, in Alphabet City, the all-American brand brought together a group of faces from the worlds of art, fashion, food, and music for a bash tucked away behind Joyface’s barely-marked door. After tossing their jackets onto the 1970s-style bar’s famed waterbed, scooping up a slice of pizza from the Lucia boxes, and grabbing a martini at the bar, it was time to let loose.
The whole thing was a throwback to the swinging ‘70s, with a disco ball illuminating the flared denim with M-embroidered back pockets, varsity polos, and baby tees in the crowd. The brand’s co-founders Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding and the party’s co-host, model Paige Reifler, circled throughout the room, beaming beneath blasts of confetti. The celebration served to properly ring in a just-released new collaboration that had been in the works for some time. “What a perfect night celebrating Reifler by Mother; a collection years in the making,” an elated Reifler told Vogue. “Everyone involved in this project is truly exceptional at what they do and I feel so lucky to have worked with so many incredible people.” Naturally, Reifler’s own mother Ash—proud as punch—was in attendance too.
The original Reifler jean launched back in 2024—and sold out within a week, and this expanded collection keeps the same vintage-inspired effortlessly cool ethos. “Paige is a dear friend and someone we’ve been lucky to work alongside for nearly a decade,” Kaeding said. “Designing her dream jeans and watching her creativity come to life through these beautiful campaigns has been incredibly inspiring.”
The party raged on, more pizza deliveries arrived, and the array of people in the club grew and grew. Model Gabrielle Richardson bopped to DJ Mei Kwok’s retro playlist. Stylist Ian Bradley and actor Michael Seater mingled near coupes of colorful gummy candies. And everyone dove on the waterbed at one point or another. In a cold, frozen Manhattan, Mother’s party was the hottest haunt in town.
