First it was Kylie Jenner and Stormi, now Ariana Grande and her mom Joan Grande are testing out their own mother-daughter beauty vlogging strategy.
Ariana—pop star, actor, r.e.m. beauty mogul—and her business exec mother Joan took to Instagram together to test out Ari’s new highlight and blush stick, the ‘mélange à trois.’
The new r.e.m. beauty offering, which comes in six shades, features unique marble swirls on each stick that makes every application cutomizable. (Ari notes her favorite is ‘love spell,’ a super light, almost silvery pink shade.) Joan applies hers liberally, contouring her cheekbones and swirling it around her lips in the shade ‘spicy,’ the most bronzed of the six shades on offer. Ari adds the more purple-toned ‘sweet talker’ to the apples of her mom’s cheeks with a stippled brush. Two fellow blush lovers in action.
“There’s something about your makeup that I just love,” says Joan.
“Our makeup!” interjects Ariana.
“You can put it on top of anything and it still looks perfect,” Joan concludes. “I look great.”
Blush is having a real moment right now, beyond the quick tap on the apple’s of one’s cheeks. Most of us have been operating under the rule that blush belongs on the high points of the cheeks, but undereye blush is trending. First taking inspo from ’90s Japanese beauty guru Shinobu Igari, you can see it on the expanse of faces from Addison Rae to Zara Larsson. And of course, thanks to Wuthering Heights, a more romantic all-over blush makes more sense than dressing up in bodices and hoop skirts.
