Ah, the endless-feeling summer of 1983: in the sun-dappled and lush Lombardy region of Northern Italy, a young Elio Perlman came of age. Timothée Chalamet played the moping teenage musician in Luca Guadagnino’s 2017 movie Call Me By Your Name, in what would become the role that catapulted him to superstardom. An exquisite film spent yearning, aching, and running hands through an incredible mop of era-appropriate hair.
Last night, the actor made a surprise appearance at the AMC Burbank for a Dune: Part Three fan event and trailer launch with director Denis Villeneuve and Brittany Broski. Wearing a slouchy gray cardigan, white tee, adidas sneakers, and baggy blue jeans, his hair has had some significant growth since the Marty Supreme movie campaign and even his more recent multiple courtside appearances at the New York Knicks games. That youthful brunet swirl is coming back, just in time for this long, hot summer.

Timothée Chalamet has been on quite the hair evolution. In Call Me By Your Name, his cut was long and textured, the curls at a length that kept them unfurled and full-bodied in a very ’80s way. Across the years of his still short but ever starry career, Chalamet has sported a series of varying coiffs, all the more chameleonic. Prior to CMBYN in 2013, Chalamet attended SAG awards where he sported a spiky, teenagery up-do. Then in 2014, he promoted his movie Men, Women & Children with a baby face and a softer, blown out, lengthened quiff. Onward from CMBYN’s release, it was a speedy trajectory from there: his curls grew out, volume was emphasized, and the lengths began to tickle the nape of his neck. It was very much in keeping with the young heartthrob look at the time, like fellow Harry Styles.
