The ‘jeans and a nice top’ outfit formula never fails, as Margot Robbie knows. But having a Chanel ambassadorship can certainly kick it up a notch.
Stepping out of The Ritz in Paris with her husband Tom Ackerley for an early dinner, the Wuthering Heights actor Chanel-ified her casual date night look. Having most certainly heard of Chanel acquiring couture shirt maker Charvet, Robbie wore a crisp white shirt with red embroidering from the last collaboration, straight leg blue jeans, a small grained black shoulder bag with the interlocking C logo, and cat-eye sunglasses. On her feet, the classic navy round toe shoes. Her still-fresh bob, sitting between her chin and clavicle, was worn tousled and in a deep side-part.
Jeans are a Margot Robbie staple. Appearing at the opening night of the play 1536 (her company Lucky Chap produces) in London’s West End back in May, she opted for a pair of black, slim-straight Alexander McQueen jeans and a military-style McQueen jacket. She’ll often pair her much loved Chanel denim pants with oversized, sharp-shouldered blazers or boho slip tops. As an Aussie, she manages to wear jeans across the seasons, unbothered by climate. (Jeans and suede loafers in Saint-Tropez? Margot has been there, done that.)

After a series of blockbuster starring roles, Robbie has a full slate of productions in play under the LuckyChap umbrella: she’s working on everything from the next Ocean’s franchise instalment to the ’90s comic adaptation Avengelyne and a, yes, Monopoly movie. You can be certain she’ll take producer fits just as seriously as Olivia Wilde and Chloé Zhao take director dressing.
