Two years ago, during the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Bella Hadid offered what was then the final word in the naked dressing conversation when she hit the carpet in a diaphanous, leave-nothing-to-the-imagination hosiery dress from Saint Laurent. A year later, in response to the festival’s brand-new no-naked-dressing rule, she found a—ahem—cheeky workaround in a barely-there Saint Laurent dress, which she wore to the Opening Ceremony. This year, she’s keeping her rebellious spirit alive.
While the no-nudity edict is allegedly still in place (not that it’s stopping guests from baring it all on the Croisette), Hadid is keeping naked dressing alive on the Croisette—and in the streets of the French Riviera. But you can forget about the sheer dresses of yore—she’s moved onto a new look.

At the premiere of L’Âge de Fer, Hadid turned—once again—to Daniel Roseberry for a custom Schiaparelli dress. (Lest we forget the two shut down the Croisette in 2021 when Hadid wore a pair of golden couture lungs.) This time, the model took a boho turn in an ivory gown, its trompe l’oeil lace fashioned from cords and anchor thread. The plunging neckline scooped below her belly button, her navel and cleavage separated by a black beaded embellishment that resembled a sea urchin.
With its severe neckline and skin-exposing lace, Hadid’s dress was undeniably sexy—and begs the question: does it follow the Cannes dress code?
