“I wanted it to be much more intimate,” Misner said of the evening, “I waited to do this new collection for such a long time, and coming back, as the super elevated version of Ellie Misner, I wanted to do it with all of the people that have supported me.” With this dinner, she got to enjoy the delights with them—especially with the torrent of fashion month firmly behind us. Misner herself wore a candy-striped dress that riffs off of the collection, fastened in an oversized bow low on the waist that, charmingly, made her the birthday gift.
Guests included designer Anissa Kermiche, wine writer and author Hannah Crosbie (who made sure to peruse the wine cellar in her sweeping, backless E.M. gown), Miss Jason (soon to launch a new party series, as he shared with Vogue over dessert), stylist Phoebe Lettice Thompson, and broadcaster, DJ, and British Vogue contributing editor ZEZI. They all mingled, many in Misner’s arpeggiated hoop skirts and cinched bustiers, drinking a trifecta of Grey Goose-based martinis: apple, espresso, and dirty speared with three fat olives. The collection decorated the walls and hung on mannequins. The neat menu featured a jewel-like tuna tartare to start, chicken and seabass mains, and a theatrical tiramisu revealed with a waterfall of cream at the table. A QR-code on the menu cards revealed a short visual film of the collection in motion.
Coming up for Ellie Misner? A short but much-needed break, as well as forthcoming bridal and custom orders. “I want to bask in this collection and play with it a bit,” she shares. The night ended as it had to: Misner blew out the candles on Lily Vanilli’s tiered, Dionysian vanilla cake draped with grapes.
