Following a collaboration with the NFL—and fresh off a trip to the French Open—the Veronica Beard brand is going all-in on sportswear. This season, Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard are upping the ante with their resort 2026 collection, dubbed “Varsity Electric,” a sportswear-heavy offering that mingles with their house codes.
“Sport and fashion, I think, have never been more aligned,” Swanson Beard said. Miele Beard agreed: “All the female athletes, the rise of the [New York] Liberty, coaches want to look amazing. There’s a lot of powerful positions that these people dress for.” And, of course, let’s not forget about the WAGs.
Indeed, this season is filled with track-striped jeans and trousers with trompe l’oeil boxer waistbands, sleek sneakers, and reversible varsity jackets. But it’s not all pep rally pieces: there is a sky blue suit that was practically made to be worn by a WNBA coach on game day, while a cropped anorak fashioned in a khaki tech fabric paired with a matching midi skirt offered a more GORP-y approach. (It’s no surprise that Prada gets a few shout-outs from the Veronicas.)
Where “Varsity Electric” succeeds is in its cohesion with Veronica Beard’s stalwart items. There is novelty denim aplenty, as well as rhinestones big and small. “You don’t have to wear your jewelry,” Swanson Beard said, gesturing to a gray cardigan with a bedazzled collar. “You have your sweater.” This time, they’ve just added a little sporty spice into the mix.
